Critical Reflection ( How do I think I did?)

Hello and welcome back to Listen it's Asiah so, "Listen it's Asiah".

In my music video I found it best to stick to the genre the music video was in. Which is a R&B/Pop song that was Whitney Huston's style.  As it was a happy and upbeat song and but I also wanted to keep the longing part that one feels when they hear the song. So doing that I kept it plain and simple by putting a mosh of clips together. Whitney's meaning behind her song was her picture someone that was single wishing that they could find that special person for themselves and I wanted to embody this also but from my perspective as from the beginning I have said I want incorporate my friends so I wanted to show them in this showing that I have not found the special person but I have found these soulmates that I would love to dance forever with. Its just a fun loving song about having feelings. So in the  end if there is anything that I want you to take away from my video is it represents way more than just finding one's significant other but that you significant other can be platonic it does not have to be romantic. That there can be a similar sense of joy between those of platonic benefit.

I feel that my video stands out more that first off because it was made by me and I feel that I also add my own flair to things. I showed my video to other people and they said that it was very me of course I took this as a compliment. As I feel more people are draw to my video a it a view from a teen perspective and I feel as it is a throwback to such a classic song that most haven't heard in a while which is why I had added the filter on the entire video as I know it is a older song and also something of the similar type was in the original music video. I mean personally I would watch my video and yes I am biased but I would watch my main attraction would probably be that the overall video is weird and quirky its a teen singing it's an interesting form of entertainment but entertaining nonetheless. If I were to release the video I made I would more than likely publish it on YouTube as it is a very 2000's app so why not put it on a 2000's platform. I also put it on TikTok as people create things there of this type all the time.  As I did take the sound from a TikTok someone had already created something like recreating the original video as people have done things like this before. I feel as if I would also feel more confident putting it on there and that I know what that platform is more suited for. I mean that in the short video as my music video is a little over one minute.

My process had started out with pick my song the song I had to pick had to be clean not that is a bad thing but it did limit my options. I did take in to account the fact of just bleeping out the word but I did not like that so I did end up with "I wanna dance with somebody" by Whitney Huston. I had always loved this song and thought it was perfect as there were so many ideas could have gone with for the song I wish I had got explore all of them or maybe just some more of this because one thing that I did learn that I will that to the next project is the need for a schedule one of the main reasons I didn't get the clips I had wanted exactly was because I did not make a schedule so nothing was clear when I ask my mother to drive and she was unable to. Also when editing the video I found out how transitions in one's music video can alter how you see. When I looked at it first without the transition it felt as though I was just watching a whole bunch of jump clips that looked great but were missing. When I added the transitions everything was much cleaner and looked much more graceful. Learning overall that producing music video takes a lot a effort and time and can not be throw together over one night which is why I did take advantage of of all the times I went out and was like why don't I film now because if my plans fall through to do what's on my storyboard I will still have something similar to what I want.

To film video it is about two phones and a tablet to edit it all on. One reason I used a phone to film on was because of the sheer ability to be able to film right then and there in the moment felt more realistic than taking out a camera case setting up the camera trying to find the perfect light and shot just seemed so impractical. I have an example of this because as I said I used two phones, one was mine and the other was mothers as she helped me get some shots. Also her camera quality was better at times especially compared to that of an actual camera today. Next, I used the same editing program that I had used before because I was used to it and I was already comfortable using it and I didn't see the point in trying to learn a new editing program when I already had one. I had used CapCut this is one that most TikToker's use when editing their own video and as I stated previously  so my inspiration had come from tiktok the idea to create it. With my knowledge of this I knew that it could help create a great music video. I also thought that this would be the perfect time to go and learn more about  how to use the app for future products of mine.
